Lidl Czech Republic: Plastic reduction as a step towards more sustainable packaging
Schwarz Group’s REset Plastic strategy represents a comprehensive approach – from reducing the amount of plastic, through design, recycling, disposal to innovation and education in this issue. As part of its long-term plan, Lidl Czech Republic has committed to reducing the amount of plastic in its own-brand packaging by 20% by 2025 compared to 2017. However, the reduction itself is not the only thing that Lidl is focusing on as part of its strategy. One of the commitments is, for example, the use of recycled materials and better recycling properties of private-label packaging. REset Plastic also includes cooperation with Kaufland in the preparation of a pilot project for the return of PET bottles and cans. Thanks to this initiative, among other things, the willingness of customers to improve the collection of cans and PET bottles in the Czech Republic will be verified in a rational way.
