Soňa Hykyšová has been working at Prague Airport as the environment, sustainability and ESG director for six years. She has devoted herself to ecology and sustainability throughout her professional career. She become involved in this field through holding various positions, from working in an environmental organization, teaching this field at a secondary school, through working in a research institute and managing two ecological centers to working at the certification company TÜV SÜD, where she was in charge of the development of accredited services focused on for sustainability certification of biofuels, verification of CO2 emissions and other services in the field of environmental protection.
Soňa’s publishing activities range from popularization and scientific articles to publications focused on environmental education. She cooperated on a research project focused on the calculation and verification of the water footprint. At the airport, she deals with topics such as reducing the carbon footprint, noise pollution, protecting biodiversity and overall reducing the impact of airport operations on the environment. An equally important topic is partnership – cooperation with airport neighbors and other stakeholders. Her agenda also includes broader issues of sustainability and ESG, including non-financial reporting. She is a member of the Environmental Strategy Committee under ACI (Airport Council International). She was named as one of the “faces of sustainability” last year by the magazine EURO.
