Jednota Consumer Cooperative in Kaplice: Container Grocery Store 24/7
The project addresses the insufficient availability of groceries on the campus of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. It features a modular wooden structure that was delivered to the site as a preassembled unit and anchored onto concrete footings. This initiative serves as a pilot project for a sustainable, energy-efficient wooden building that is suitable for installation in rural and urban environments, as well as corporate campuses, requiring only a connection to the electrical grid. The grocery store on the University of South Bohemia campus is fully equipped with sustainable electronic price tags. Emphasis is placed on the collaboration between the store operator and the university in ensuring grocery availability on campus, showcasing technological innovations, and integrating commercial practice with data utilization for academic purposes. Students, employees, and visitors to the campus have access to 580 product types, totaling 9,500 individual items, all within a retail space of just 25 m². Moreover, the store operates in a fully automated 24/7 mode, completely without staff. Currently, approximately 3,000 customers independently complete their purchases at the store each month. Operational and logistical processes are designed to be seamlessly interconnected, minimizing the need for physical personnel involvement.
